Relationships of the Big Five Personality with Self-Esteem and Emotion Understanding in Students from Visual Arts High Schools and General Education High Schools

The problem of the present study was defined as follows: What personality characteristics were predictors emotion understanding and self-esteem in students visual arts high schools general education schools. problems discussed this article have important implications for effective functioning artistically gifted youth school environment optimization their development various areas activity. Students (N = 440) aged 15–18 (M 16.88, SD 0.81) Poland surveyed. participants completed Costa McCrae’s NEO-FFI, Rosenberg’s Self-Esteem Scale (SES), Matczak Jaworowska’s Emotion Understanding Test (TRE). Enter regression analysis conducted. results showed that group visualarts neuroticism, extraversion, conscientiousness significant self-esteem, while neuroticism openness to experience understanding. In who pursued a educationcurriculum, statistically significantly predicted by conscientiousness. Significant included experience, agreeableness. These findings demonstrate functioned differently setting depending on educational curriculum they following. can be used formulate practical guidelines.
